On the other hand, the disadvantages of this style are as follows (1) nei ther person gets exactly what each wants, (2) can lead to frustrated or angry feelings later, and (3) in some cases, it may not be possible, or even desirable, to split it down the middle (Lewicki & Hiam 2006170)The compromising style is frequently used when trading commodities. A seller pegs the price of a commodity at a certain amount or level. Buyers, usually opt to negotiate purchasing that commodity at a lower price. For example, we were looking for a second-hand van to purchase. The seller sells the van at $5000. We try to negotiate to purchase the van at $4500. The compromising style is applied when both seller and buyer meets at a halfway price, e.g. $4750, to consummate the sale. By this type of transaction, we are already happy with the results.The compromising style is not always applicable in all transactions especially when the decision does not involve monetary terms.
